The IndepenDEX was an idea by Shelby Jones, who is the founder and owner of Omega Squid Studios.
Being a filmmaker himself, as well as reviewing many independent film submissions on another website he created, SquidFlicks, he decided that there should be a place where independent films could be archived and indexed.
After several months of planning, this site was born, and continues to grow.
